WE'RE HERE TO HELP
A 2010 Metro Area Continuum of Care for the Homeless (MACCH) community assessment found: 1) significant inefficiencies in how people access services, 2) gaps in fund eligibility, and 3) potential duplication of assistance. As a response to these needs, Common Fund of the Heartland was formed to reduce waste by creating a network of agencies operating cooperatively by sharing a common intake process, common database and a common fund to maintain adequate financial support.
In November 2015, Common Fund of the Heartland invested in resources to formalize the initiative by launching a 501(c)3 organization. This structure makes sure people facing crises are provided the assistance they need in a timely manner. Common Fund’s partnering agencies now work collectively providing a first line of defense to households seeking stability through utility assistance – when it is needed most.
The mission of the Common Fund is to efficiently and equitably coordinate client-focused financial assistance that measures results and empowers community agencies to provide more effective service through the use of pooled resources.
The vision of the Common Fund is that of a coordinated fund to effectively link clients to financial assistance to stabilize housing in our community.
